## Steps and timing

Your case manager, with licensed lawyers where the case needs them, handles all the paperwork.

No more dealing with bureaucracy alone. You give us the facts once and always know the next action.

### 1. Understand your options

We review your work, venture, passive income and family plan, then remove the routes that cannot fit.

### 2. Build the route strategy

We name the evidence gaps, filing channel, tax application and backup route before the dossier begins.

### 3. Prepare the documents

We coordinate certificates, translations, insurance, forms and family evidence into one checked file.

### 4. Submit and manage

We file where the route allows, handle additional requests and keep the authority status visible.

### 5. Complete the residence card

After approval we map entry, registration, biometrics, the TIE and the renewal conditions.

## FAQ

### Can I get a Digital Nomad residence permit if I own a business outside Spain?

Yes, when the company is established outside Spain, the work is genuinely remote and no more than 20% of a professional applicant's activity comes from Spanish clients.

### Do I need to live in Spain on the Digital Nomad route?

Continuous presence is not required for the permit itself. To stay on track for long-term residence after five years, the absence limits still have to be met.

### What types of startup can support residence?

The project needs innovation, economic value and credible potential in Spain. ENISA assesses the business plan, founder role, scalability and financing rather than applying a fixed turnover or headcount test.

### Do I pay tax in Spain on the Digital Nomad route?

Spending more than 183 days in Spain usually makes you tax resident. Employees may be able to apply for the Beckham regime, which uses a 24% rate on qualifying Spanish income for the arrival year plus five tax years. Eligibility is separate from the visa.

### Can freelancers with several clients use the Digital Nomad route?

Yes, when the income is stable, the professional history is documented and no more than 20% of activity comes from Spanish clients.

### Do I need a long-term rental contract before applying?

Not on the Digital Nomad or Startup route. Temporary accommodation can support the initial move. The Non-Lucrative consular file has its own accommodation evidence, so we check the route before you book.

### Is it mandatory to keep running the startup forever?

The initial permit is built on the approved venture. If the venture changes or ends, review the modification route before taking action. Time already held can still count toward the long-term residence clock when legal residence remains continuous.
