Hungary Golden Visa questions
What to find out before you invest
The programme's status, the investment terms and your family plan should be clear before any money moves.
Is the Hungary Golden Visa still open?
Yes. As of 8 October 2026 we found no law or decree closing it. Before the April 2026 election the Tisza party, now in government, said it intends to abolish the scheme, and no transitional rules have been announced. That is why we recheck the status before any payment and again before you invest.
Can I buy a property instead of investing in a fund?
No. The EUR 500,000 residential-property option was removed by an amendment published on 20 December 2024, before it took effect. The qualifying investments are units of an approved real-estate fund from EUR 250,000, or a EUR 1,000,000 donation to a higher-education institution.
Do I have to live in Hungary?
No minimum stay is required to keep the permit: the 90-in-180-days presence rule does not apply to guest investor renewals. You do travel to Hungary to file the residence permit and give biometrics.
How long is the permit valid?
Up to 10 years, and it can be renewed once for up to 10 more years, 20 years in total, while the investment conditions hold. The guest investor visa that comes first is a multiple-entry visa valid for 6 months.
Can my family come with me?
Yes. Family members as defined in the Act receive a linked family residence permit and can work in Hungary without restriction. We confirm who qualifies in your family before filing.
Which nationalities can apply?
The route is for third-country nationals without EU, EEA or Swiss free-movement rights: investors from Nigeria, South Africa, India, Turkey, the UAE, Latin America and elsewhere. Every application goes through security screening, and EU sanctions rules restrict some nationalities, so we check your case before any payment.
Does it lead to permanent residence or citizenship?
We do not sell it as a permanent-residence route. Sources disagree on whether guest investor years count toward Hungary's national residence card, and EU long-term residence has its own presence rules. Citizenship follows the general naturalisation rules. If permanent residence is the goal, we compare routes with you first.
How much does your service cost?
We quote the service after a free profile review, because it depends on the investment route and the size of your family. The investment, fund costs and government fees are always separate from our fee.
Do you guarantee approval?
No, and nobody can: the Hungarian immigration authority decides, and it screens every applicant. Our model is an honest assessment of your profile and the programme's status before you pay or invest.
