The reason this article needs to exist is a structural change almost no third-party page absorbed. What the reform did to the salaried threshold matters most: it moved from a SMIC formula to a fixed euro reference salary. The arrêté du 21 août 2025 sets the salaire brut moyen annuel de référence at €39,582 for both talent — salarié qualifié and the EU Blue Card (articles R.421-16 A and R.421-21 A CESEDA). That is a fixed amount written into a ministerial order, not “x times the SMIC.”

A rounding note for the precise: 3 × €1,867.02 × 12 comes to €67,212.72 on a raw monthly base, but both service-public.gouv.fr and welcome.businessfrance.fr publish €67,212.60, because the official figure is 3× the published annual SMIC of €22,404.20. Use the official €67,212.60; the same logic gives the 1 January 2026 figure of €65,629.20 (3× the then-published €21,876.40). The point is not the cents. It is that this single category really did rise with the SMIC, while the salarié qualifié threshold did not.

Why nearly every guide still gets this wrong

If you search for the France Talent salary requirement, most pages — immigration aggregators, relocation blogs, even some law-firm explainers — still describe Talent thresholds as “1.8–2× the SMIC.” That was accurate before June 2025. After the reform, those pages mostly did one of two things:

  1. Copied the pre-2025 ”× SMIC” framing forward without noticing the salarié qualifié threshold became a fixed €39,582 reference; or
  2. Bolted the June 2026 SMIC hike onto the old formula, concluding that the Talent salary bar must have gone up too.

Both are wrong for the salaried route. The error is understandable: one Talent category (mandataire social) really does behave the old way, so a page that only checked that one figure “confirms” the misreading. But generalising from the company-director rule to the qualified-employee card is exactly the mistake. The reliable distinction in 2026 is SMIC-linked versus fixed reference, not “all Talent thresholds are a SMIC multiple.”

If you hold or are renewing a talent — salarié qualifié card, your renewal is tested against the fixed €39,582 reference, not a moving SMIC figure.
